Round table charts path for preventing femicide
On 25 June 2026, representatives from the judiciary, law enforcement, civil society and international organizations gathered at the National Center for Human Rights (NCHR) in Tashkent for a round table to discuss current approaches to preventing violence against women and strengthening the protection of women’s rights.The round table, titled “Legal Mechanisms for the Prevention of Femicide: From International Standards to National Practice” was organized by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan (PCUz) in co-operation with the NCHR.

OSCE supports capacity-building for temporary detention officers on torture and ill-treatment prevention in Uzbekistan
Twenty-six officers from temporary detention facilities across Uzbekistan strengthened their practical skills and knowledge to prevent torture and ill-treatment in places of detention during a training course in Tashkent from 22 to 24 June.Two officers from the UK Metropolitan Police shared their expertise with participants, drawing on international good practices in detention management and human rights protection. The event coincided with the United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, marked annually on 26 June.
