Challenges faced by the regions is the focus of a two-day workshop started on 27 November 2012 in Nukus, the capital of Uzbekistan’s autonomous Republic of Karakalpakstan. The event was opened by Gyorgy Szabo, the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan and Dilshod Ibragimov, Deputy Head of the NGONGO
non-governmental organization
Regional Policy Foundation, co-organizers of the event.

The seminar brings together 25 local experts, experienced lecturers and activists as well as teachers and young professionals who will discuss various aspects of political, economic and social developments related to their own region.

They will analyze the impact of state and government policies, the involvement of civil society, specific issues of youth development and the implications of reform initiatives. The participants will have an opportunity to increase their understanding of ongoing reform processes as well as improve their abilities raising awareness of related issues to people living in the regions.

The Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan is working together with the Regional Policy Foundation as a project partner in promoting civil society development.
